We receive an error saying "Exception caught" when trying to run a refinement in TOPAS and no refinement occurs (to the best of our knowledge, but TOPAS cannot be closed because it claims a refinement is in progress even after dozens of minutes). Full info is given below and screen shot is attached (error persists even with variables specified to refine unlike in the example screenshot provided) . Any help would be greatly appreciated!
We have an academically licensed version of TOPAS (7.24) and have been following along Professor Evan's tutorials (specifically the Y2O3 synchrotron refinment example). Using jEdit (5.4, we believe all packages are installed correctly) and the sample data included online (as well as the sample data included in the jEdit packages) we believe that we are creating the input file properly. When we try to run the refinement on TOPAS we run into the error described above and shown in image. TOPAS can then not be shut claiming that a refinement is running even if more than a sufficient amount of time has passed. We were unable to find the exact issue in the forums however based on previous issues it may have to do with the version or license? Any help would be greatly appreciated please let us know if there is additional information that would be useful in figuring this out. Thank you for your time.
