Just a quick note that regular Linux users may find helpful at some stage.....
Setting up a KVM/QEMU Windows VM within Linux and running TOPAS works OK minus the structure viewer or any other OpenGL component. Those components in a simple setup crashes TOPAS instantly. The issue seems to stem from the OpenGL component of the Windows virtio display drivers being very dated and not supporting newer OpenGL features. Setting up a dedicated GPU for the VM to pass-through would yield the best performance but not always possible at short notice or at all.
A workaround that fixes the problem for me (Debian 12/ Win11 pro VM) with virtio is to install updated Mesa drivers in the Windows VM following the guidance on a webpage on askubuntu - search for "enabling-opengl-in-windows-10-guest-vm-in-qemu". Installing the driver from the github repositiry pal1000/mesa-dist-win/releases works perfectly and gives functioning structure viewer in simulated annealing, etc. GPU pass-through is on my to-do list but this will do the job for now to check out a TOPAS SA/refinement without rebooting.
Note to the wise.... my rather paranoid corporate-grade anti-virus complained about a trojan in v24.1.15 but not in 24.2.0-rc1. Probably a false positive from Bitdefender Endpoint but do your due diligence and use common sense.

Pam
