Open Eva files with topas

Hello everyone,
As I am new to Topas, I am having some basic questions. I do not know if this is the right section to post them, so the admin may move it elsewhere.
I am having some soil samples which I want to run a quantitative analysis. I have identified the possible mineral phases using EVA, and I want to import them in Topas for the quantification. Is there a way to convert the .eva file to ,pro file or should I use the raw and add each structure seperately?

Hi, Hara. There's no direct eva to topas route that I know of.
I would do exactly as you suggest: (1) identify phases in eva; (2) get the structural informatoin from whatever database you have access to; and (3) import them into topas. You can do the analysis in topas either using the gui and a .pro file, or using launch mode and a .inp file.
I don't know if you're new to TOPAS or new to Rietveld analysis in general. If it's the latter, just be aware that it's very easy to do quantitative analysis badly, but much harder to do it well. There are good discussions of some of the pitfalls in various text books.

If you use EVA V6 or a later version, you might find an option to export your data (including Phase ID) to TOPAS *.pro files.

Ravikumar Unfortunately, I can not find such option in my EVA. Maybe is an earlier version. Could it be deactivated by the administrator during set up? Maybe I should contact them and ask them. Thanks again...

If the feature is available, it should be enabled. I think you are using an older version of EVA.
