Dear TOPAS experts,
I am using MacOS version 12.2.1 on MacBook Air 13" with M1 chip and I am trying to install topas_3_7_macOS10_15.zip. For reference I am following the installation instructions at
https://sites.google.com/a/topasmc.org/home/user-guides/installation.
I have successfully completed steps 1, 2, and 3. My environment variables are set as follows:
TOPAS_G4_DATA_DIR=/Applications/G4Data
QT_QPA_PLATFORM_PLUGIN_PATH=/Applications/topas/Frameworks
Step 4 is causing me the following issue:
% cd /Applications/topas/examples/SpecialComponents/
% /Applications/topas/bin/topas MultiLeafCollimator_sequence.txt
zsh: bad CPU type in executable: /Applications/topas/bin/topas
I am not (yet) interested in building extensions for TOPAS, but I see there is an instruction there regarding usage of TOPAS on Mac with M1 chip. While this section explicitly states to *not* follow the directions, unless building extensions, it seems that I need to install Rosetta 2 with the line below, in order to run TOPAS on the M1 architecture.
sudo /usr/sbin/softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license
I am writing to ask for confirmation on this step. Thanks in advance for your help!
Regards,
Andrew
