ucecac2 Hi, I am using a Malvern Panalytical Empyrean XRD and would like some advice on how to customise my instrument corrections in my input file for Pawley refinements. I know TOPAS has inbuilt corrections but I am not sure how to customise for the Empyrean XRD specifically. Many thanks in advance
johnsoevans It's impossible to answer this question without knowing the instrument set up. I'd suggest talking to whoever locally knows the instrument best. The main parameters you need to get right are the ones that feed into the LP correction. This depends on what monochromator/detector set up you have. You should also measure e.g. a NIST/instrument standard to check you have things right. Doing a test Rietveld on something like Y2O3 where the structure and adps are well known would be sensible.
rowlesmr Also be aware that if you're using the monochromator that diffracts out-of-plane, you need a different correction to what is available as standard in TOPAS. I can't recall the formulism atm, but should be ablt to look it up.
